Fanfiction recs

wereowlI was wondering about posting a list of my recommendations of fanfictions I'd read and found them memorable for some reason. The list is not finished and will never be, I plan to update it once in a while. Stories are sorted by fandom, see below. Feel free to discuss any story that catches your eye, I'd like to know I am not the only one who likes them ^^

Harry Potter
This fandom toubles me. I've read so many stories (it was my first step into the world of fanfiction, duh) so that I'm already tired and don't read it anymore, except for some fanfics that sound interesting at a glance, because of a pairing or a theme. On the other hand, I'd also like to recommend some stories I read long time ago but they were so good I still have them saved in the comp. Without more words, the recs are here:

- The Deathly Hallows in script form by

blpaintchart (R). Do you like Deathly Hallows? Yes? Then don't read this fic. The best DH parody you could imagine! - Four Moments of Mourning by Kanzeyori (Ron, Draco, Harry, a bit of slash). I can't say much because it would be a spoiler. It's dark, and breathtaking, and sad, and bitter, and so atmospheric I started trembling. It's a bit confusing at the beginning so read it once, twice, three times, as many times as you like (or as you can stand).
- Sexing the Pumpkin: A Love Story by ratherbrightred (NC-17, Sirius/transgender!Severus). I warned you that nowadays I read only weird stuff ^^ Severus was born as a male in female body. He managed to keep it a secret (with Dumbledore's help). What would happen if anyone found out? Especially Sirius Black? The author warns against voyeurism, various explicit sexual encounters, character death that you already knew was coming & related angst, DH spoilers (sort of), drugs, alcohol, some very disgusting though only occasionally explicit moments involving bodily fluids of all varieties...and more! I know it sounds weird, disgusting maybe, but I assure you, it's not as bad as it sounds. In fact, it's one of the best Sirius/Severus stories I've ever read. It's kind of sweet... even if angsty.
- If you are prepared by Cybele (NC-17, Severus/Harry). I don't think there is someone who doesn't know this fic but I have to add it to the list because it's probably the best HP fanfiction ever.
- The Other Side of Darkness by Abby (NC-17, Severus/Hermione). Detective/mystery story.
- Buses by shiv5468 (<- the author of Scheherazade, my one and only het translation ^^ TFATR doesn't count ^^) (NC-17, Hermione/Lucius/Severus, Harry/Draco). Pr0n, just pr0n ^^ So everyone is a bit ooc, but in the way how we love them ^^ "My dear girl," he said, moving the finger a little higher. "Surely you aren’t going to pretend that the idea of several hundred years of Pureblood breeding humbling itself between your thighs isn’t providing you with a frisson of pleasure." [...] "My dear Mr Malfoy," she replied, matching his intonation perfectly. "To be honest, I don’t care about the Pureblood breeding at all. But you do have pretty hair."
- Indulgence by shocolate (NC-17, Harry/Ron). Sweet story about Harry having issue with his age ^^
- NEW Longing by iamshadow (PG, Ron/Harry, Ron/Hermione). Post DH, EWE, hurt/comfort. A trio fic, but not exactly threesome. Even I have to read something optimistic from time to time ^^
- NEW Live Bed Show by solstice_muse (NC-17, Ron/Harry, Ron/Hermione, implied Harry/Ginny). Another trio fic, post DH but this time completely canon-compliant. Lots of fun ^^ I want Harry as my Christmas present too!
- Vertigo by jennavere (R, Harry/Draco, AU, WIP). Generally, I don't like fluff much. But this story is so heartwarming you can't help it and smile all the time. Alas, it's WIP and it seems it will never be finished (it's almost a year from the last update).
- Season in hell by Cassandra Claire (NC-17, Harry/Draco). I can't provide you with a link because Cassandra Claire wanted her fics to be removed from the Internet (but if you ask nicely, then...~_^). Maybe the weirdest thing I've ever read. Dark, angsty, breathtaking, full of wicked humour. Undescribable.
- NEW The Danger in the Shadows by softly_sweetly (NC-17, Harry/Draco). Draco Malfoy is being stalked, unable to get away from the person that shadows his every move. But without realising it, he puts his trust in the wrong man to save him. Holly shit, this fic is so good. And creepy. A lot. I love fics that make my stomach flip.
- Strange Bedfellows by casspeach (NC-17, Neville/Draco). DH-compliant, but EWE (= Epilogue? What epilogue? ^^). I've been waiting for so long for someone to write Neville how I see him, how I like him. As a man who is still clumsy and forgetful but also has his own dreams and tries to achieve them. Despite being a war hero, he is still kind and really not that complicated - this is what makes his relationship with Draco interesting and maybe even possible. I really didn't think I could find MY Neville in a fic that ships him with Draco. And Draco, by the way, is also in-character, so for me it's impossible not to love the fic.
- In Snape’s Kitchen by hb_princess (PG, for language and sexual references, no pairing, just implicit Snape/Lily). Book Seven. The obligatory Scene In Which All Questions Are Answered. Hillarious, I love this version so much more than Deathly Hallows ^^ Written in January, 2006, so no real spoilers for DH.
- Some Boys Never Learn by shaggydogstail (PG-13, Sirius/Minerva - hell, yes! ^^). Minerva often wondered if Sirius didn't enjoy getting into trouble. She's surprised to find out just how much he enjoys it. See the rating, nothing dirty happens, just fun ^^
- Anything by snegurochka_lee, see her webpage. I translated Spy and Not Love, maybe someday I will finish it and translate also Habit. But these ones are not the only ones good, check for example Alpha Wolf (NC-17, Remus/Bill), Players (NC-17, Sirius/Severus) or The Great Hogwarts Christmas Gift Exchange Debacle of 1996 (PG-13, Snape/Lupin, others, fun fun fun). Or if you are inclined to kinky stuff, try Lick (NC-17, Padfoot/Lily).
- I mustn't forget to recommend fanfics and recommendations of amanuensis1. She reads and writes weird stuff, just as I like it ^^ She is not afraid of BDSM and non-con stories, but it isn't like she doesn't write anything else. I wouldn't have thought it was possible to write post-DH canon-compliant Sirius/Harry fic, but it seems it was (ok, it's EWE): Even Closer To Me (NC-17, Sirius/Harry, angst). Or that it's possible to write Harry/Creevey brothers fic (really disturbing one, that's for sure): Hero Worship (NC-17, dub-con). But she writes funny things too: Fifty-three Stories About Snape and Black (R, Sirius/Severus, humour, parody) or Ten Zillion Points From Gryffindor (NC-17, Harry/Severus, humour, pwp). Go and find your own favourite fic ^^
- Sixteen ways to tell the Weasley twins apart by kaydeefalls (G, Fred, George). Twins' love, but not twincest! Sweet and funny and sad. You will like it ^^
- NEW Wait for Monday by cmere (NC-17, Sirius/James, Sirius/Remus, James/Lily). Angsty and sad and believable Sirius/James story.
- NEW The Facts of Life by moony (G, Harry, Sirius, Remus). Harry is given "The Talk", by the only two people who could. Hilarious.
- Virgulectics - The Slash Is Where It's At by justthefic. An essay, a reflection about slash in general.
- Ever so slightly longer but not quite as thick: Toward a quantitative literary sexology of Harry Potter fanfiction by Blythe Lee and Circe Tigana. Really interesting way how to use statistic analysis, chi-square and other dirty words ^^
- NEW Summary Executions by mctabby (thanks, pimpinellae, for your rec!). The most hilarious summaries of Harry Potter fanfiction stories. Read and have fun, but beware, it's almost dangerous to health ^^

Uvedla bych navíc ještě nějaké RL/SS ff, pak pár ulítlých nesmyslů, mé oblíbené They Just Don´t (viz UtC), pokračování The Other Side Of Darkness a samozřejmě věci od Sneguroshky. A na tvé doporučení Season in Hell.

Date: 2008-01-12 04:02 pm (UTC)K fanfikcím, které jsou tu zmíněné, se vyjadřuj dle libosti, budu jen ráda, když si o nich budu moct s někým popovídat. Pokud bys chtěla doporučit něco dalšího, preferovala bych věci, které jsem zatím nečetla :-) Bylo by fajn uvést autora a link. Když se mi to bude líbit, mileráda to přidám na seznam. Je zbytečné uvádět věci, které jsem sem už zařadila nebo které jsem překládala - moje překlady jsou vlastně taky taková doporučení. Možná je časem přidám sem na seznam všechny.. až se mi bude chtít :-)
Můj náhled na HP fanfikci se změnil, a to poměrně radikálně. V první fázi jsem četla takřka všechno, nadšená nově objeveným světem. Ve druhé fázi jsem už byla značně vybíravá a četla jen to "kvalitnější" - řídila jsem se doporučeními a začala se vyhýbat archivům, jejichž kvalita povídek byla značně kolísavá. No a teď jsem ve fázi tři - už čtu jenom divné věci. Nebo spíš neobvyklé věci. Hlavně rare pairs, na Snapea s Harrym, Lupinem nebo Hermionou mě už asi nenalákáš...
